You can continue to enjoy your music, video, FM radio, photos and podcasts and reduce your impact on our environment with the Eco Media Player™

The Bayliss Eco Media Player gives you the freedom to listen to all your favourite music, watch movie clips, tune in to FM radio, thumb through photo albums, and read text files – all without the need for external power or costly batteries!

The built-in microphone means that you can record the sound around you - or use it as a voice recorder too.

Just one minute of winding gives you up to 40 minutes of play time so it’s ideal for the beach, travel or weekends away - you can even use it to charge up your mobile phone in an emergency!

If winding doesn't turn you on - you can also charge the media player through the USB port of your computer.

Fully charged, the EP-MX71 Baylis Eco Media Player™ will provide around 20 hours of constant music, or around 10 hours of video play.

The controls are intuitive, positive and easy to use. Full size buttons are comfortable and convenient for people of all ages.

A 1.8” full colour LCD display together with the very latest in 24 bit digital audio processing and state of the art in-ear headphones brings concert hall experience right where you are – any time, any place. With or without power!

You can store all your media and data onto the big 2GB internal memory, and add even more with plug in SD cards.

When connected to your computer the media player appears as an external disk drive so you can easily transfer (“drag and drop”) all your favourite media files.

You can also use audio line input to record directly from cassette and CD recorders, without a computer.

Say goodbye to expensive batteries, eliminate old battery waste that's harmful to the environment, and say hello to your new generation best friend!

Support Questions:

Q. Device does not turn on
A. Is it charged? Try re-charging. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds.

Q. The screen goes black - even during music play, what’s happened?
A. The device has an energy-save mode which turns off power to the screen when no buttons have been pressed for a while. Just press any button to wake it up again.

Q. What type of files can I store in the unit’s memory?
A. You can copy any kind of computer file from your PC to the device via the USB connection. Therefore the device can be used rather like a portable drive or USB Stick for all kinds of data. However, the device will only PLAY files of the media types as shown in the Technical Data sheet.

Q. When I try to copy files from my PC to the player’s memory I get an error message which says that “the drive is locked / write protected”. What’s gone wrong?
A. Disconnect the player from the PC. Set the Keylock switch to “UNLOCKED” position. Reconnect player to PC USB. Now files will transfer normally.

Q. I numbered the tracks of an album correctly, but they don’t play in the right order on the Eco Player - help!
A. The Eco Media Player plays all files in storage order. That is, it plays in the order that files are added to the memory. For example; simply drag “Song 01” to the Player first, then drag “Song 02” next, ... and so on. Now the songs will play in the right order (assuming that Repeat Mode is not set to “Random”).

Q. The screen says “Format Error” when I try to access an SD card. What’s wrong?
A. The original release of Eco Media Players could only access SD cards up to 2Gb. SD cards above 2Gb capacity are known as “SD/HC”, and these are now supported by the Eco Media Player, provided it has the latest Firmware installed.

If the error message still appears, this means that the SD card is not formatted correctly. Use a Windows PC to perform a FAT32 format on the card.

Q. Is the Eco Media Player compatible with Apple MAC computers?
A. No, it is designed for use with PC’s running Microsoft XP or later. (Win 98SE is also supported subject to installing the correct driver: click here to download). If the player is connected to a MAC (OS10) it will mount as an external drive, and files can be transferred to or from the player.

However, there are problems, in that MAC OS will write hidden “DS_STORE” files to the player that will cause the player to malfunction if they are not removed prior to disconnection from the MAC. We have been told that a free MAC utility “FinderCleaner” can solve this problem, but we have not tested it, and we can only recommend that the Eco Player is only ever connected to a Windows PC.

Q. I wound up the player for a full minute, but it only played for about 20 minutes (the maker claims 40 minutes). Why the discrepancy?
A. The Eco Player is fully capable of playing FM Radio for around 40 minutes, MP3 audio for 30 - 35 minutes, and video play for around 20 minutes from 1 minute of winding. For maximum audio playback, make sure you set the “Screen Blank” time to the minimum (5secs) and the volume to a mid position in order to enjoy the longest playback time.

Q. Some of my “wma” music files play fine, but others refuse to play. What’s wrong?
A. It depends on where you got the songs from. Some “wma” files may be encoded with an anti-copy system known as “DRM”. The EP-MX71 is not DRM compatible.

Q. How do I get all the music from my CD collection onto my Eco Media Player?
A. Copying CDs to your mp3 player is a 2 - step process.

The first step is to convert the CD audio files into mp3 format files. This process is called "ripping". If your PC has Microsoft Windows Media Player v.10 or above, this process can be done within the Windows Media Player interface, please refer to Microsoft's instructions on how to "rip" the CD into your Windows Media Player "Library".

Having completed step 1 above, connect your mp3 player to your PC via the USB, keeping Windows Media Player open. It will then register your mp3 player as a "flash disk" device. Having completed the registration procedure (you only need to do this the first time you connect), use the "Sync" button to copy your desired mp3 music files from your "library" to the player. (Again, refer to Microsoft's instructions within Windows Media Player for full details).
